I'm delighted to announce that my painting of our friends' granddaughter was awarded First Place in the Artists' Guild Gallery's December 2013 Exhibition in Delray Beach, Florida.
Early Morning has a young girl, in a beautiful white dress with a colorful border of flowers as the main subject. She is kneeling down to pour fresh milk into a shallow bowl for her very drowsy cat - just waking up from a morning nap.
My favorite parts of the painting were the reflected glow of the dress (on the flower border), the texture of the cat's fur and the composition itself (which continued to be modified as the painting developed). Hope you enjoy the painting!
