OPEN HOUSE TO PREVIEW FALL CLASSES

  

Calling all artists, don’t miss the upcoming Open House at the Boca Raton Museum of Art – The Art School.

 

This free annual will be held Saturday, August 23, from 1-4 p.m. at the school located at 801 West Palmetto Park Road, one mile east of 1-95.

 

Visitors will be able to view the faculty exhibit and meet the artists-teachers’ in the art studios and discuss their classes.

 “We have, perhaps, the finest faculty in South Florida,” said Walter O’Neill, director. “Potential students will be able to visit with these teachers to get a preview of the classes and to see some of the outstanding artwork being produced by the faculty.”

 

The Art School offers a wide range of classes in virtually every medium and discipline for beginners to experienced artists. Classes are offered in portraiture, still life and landscape painting, as well as photography, pottery, collage, jewelry making and sculpture, among many others.   Award-winning teachers lead classes in oil, watercolor, acrylic, and drawing, to name just a few.

 

“This is a perfect time to meet the teachers and learn more about the adult art classes,” added O’Neill. “Visitors will be able to visit the studios and see short demonstrations on making pottery, stone carving, print making, and other techniques.”

 

 

There will be a free raffle to win $100 discount on an art course. Each person who signs up for a class during Open House receives a one-day pass for two at the Boca Raton Museum of Art.

both seasoned painters as well as newcomers. 



 

As you will see,
the artists used either acrylic, pastel or oils,

and they certainly employed

a number of different painting styles.

Most of all, they all shared

Two Valuable 1/2 Day Workshops

 Being Held THIS Saturday

"The FUNdamentals of Mixing Color Accurately" half-day workshop will be held from 9AM to 12PM at The Art School on Palmetto Park Road.  We will be covering the crucial facets of color mixing and learn a four-step process by which we can more easily and successfully mix the colors we need.

 

What is more frustrating than seeing the color in your subject, but being unable to reproduce it with your palette?  Once the basics are understood, then color mixing is no longer left to chance.  Colors are fresher, less pasty or muddy, and painting is more fun and successful! This workshop is for artists of all levels who want to strengthen their color mixing skills so they can create the colors they need.

 

 

"The FUNdamentals of Drawing Accurately" is also a half-day workshop being offered in the afternoon, at the Art School on Palmetto Park Road in Boca Raton.   Throughout the half-day  workshop, an assortment of tried and true methods, as well as a number of unusual but effective ways of "getting it right," will be explained.  (*This wonderful piece of 3-D art can be found at the following site: angeli7.deviantart.com)

Learn how to save time by finding basic errors right away and make adjustments early on, so the drawing is correct and the painting is strong.

 

So many times, it is tempting to rush through the "drawing stage" of a painting, only to discover errors after the painting has begun.  Then, we are stuck having to go back and spend hours trying to rework the painting. We fix errors that could easily have been prevented, had we been aware of them before we moved on to the painting.  Learn how to avoid those pesky errors in the first place!

 

Artists of all levels are welcome to refresh their skills and learn new techniques of drawing more accurately, so creating art can be more fun and relaxing - and successful!
